Dear Nate,
Mrs. White is still helping at the school, but she doesn't teach anymore.  She is my old teacher's mom!  Thanks for writing to me!  Was that my name in Japanese?  The picture you sent last time of the food looked amazing!  The second picture of you was beautiful!  Where were you?  What were you standing on?  I've been having dreams that you are coming home.  In one of them, we went to Japan!  We have a new PE teacher.  She is really nice.  One of my favorite things to do in school is play tether ball.  Kess got a new one last Christmas.  We have been practicing a lot.  She is in middle school so we can't walk together anymore.  It's been a rough move!  But I think that tetherball has helped her because she can beat almost anyone in the 5th grade!  I love you!  P.S. Enjoy your mission while you can!

Love,  Abigail  Bevan

Thanks for writing me! Know your name is アビー in Japanese. 愛していますmeans I love you。I was standing on the stairway of an apartment building. It is beautiful isn't it! I'm glad you're having a good time at school!
Love you!

New Missionary

Elder Burgner is here! He is from good old Rexburg Idaho! We have seen tons of cool things so far! I will send some pictures.
i wrote a really long probably boring letter to Dad so I don't have any time but,

I am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful that we are able to participate in His work. I know that Jesus Christ lives, and that the Book of Mormon is true, and the gospel it teaches is the way to eternal life. The leaders of this church are true judges in Israel, and they hold the keys that they claim.
Well, shoot besides that, I don't know what to say.

Busy, Mrs. Silkwood

This week i don't have a lot of time... Sorry!!!
So here are some cool updates on my life:
I have been working on improving my exercise schedule lately and have
been super sore :-) I hope that means it is working!
We are working with Kuriyama 兄弟 and he seems to be doing well,
hopefully we can get him baptized this month!we went out to eat sushi
win him and the sisters.
This is him and my goofy companion.

And this is a crepe with shrimp and rice inside, topped with mayonnaise and fish eggs, it actually wasn't too bad!

We had a summer festival on Saturday, during which I was able to see Meet the Mormons for the first time. That was cool! We also ate squid and mochi, and dressed in kimono's.
This was a pop drinking contest:)

It was a good week. I went to the mission home on Monday to receive a training on training. Elder Stennett is on the phone right now with the Assistants...
Oh, my new companion is named Bergner  straight from the MTC.
It will be a good week! I am looking forward to it!
My love to all!

Please send my regards to the Silkwood family. Maybe you could tell
them thank you through the Hunters. Gavin is good friends with her son
Jake. I am sure they are hurting right now. I will be praying that
missionaries better than me will be sent to her, to teach her the
restored gospel of Jesus Christ. She will one day have a body that
will no longer be corrupted. She can find rest. I will see her again.
She was so kind to me. I will always remember her. One time she put
chocolate on my desk when she saw that I was having a stressful day.
One time when I was upset and hurt because of things that were said,
she shared her own very personal experiences with me, and in that way
let me know she loved me and cared for me. every time I got a good
score on a paper in her class I knew I had done something worth being
proud of. I loved to please her. She was kind to me even when my
opinions were sharp or unpolished, and smiled when I did. She looked
forward to seeing her students come and visit her on homecoming or
prom. I loved her, and will miss her. I was looking forward so much to
just going back to her classroom and talking just a little bit with
her. Send my best to her family.

I love these people!

Thanks for writing me an email. I thought I was only going to get one email from Bryan! This week was fun, we did a lot of good work and talked to a lot of people. This morning when I thought about it, I really felt blessed that I can talk about the gospel to everyone I meet.
On Friday we went to Yahata and did a companion split with the elders there. We worked really hard and came home very tired. I love doing companion splits! While we were there, we talked to some very interesting people. One man is currently not active at church but was willing to set up a return appointment with the elders who live in Yahata. The other was a man who wants to be baptized and is working on overcoming the obstacles in his way. It was a very good time and I was able to think about why I am on a mission a little bit. It was a time for me to refine my focus and commit to working with more energy and more focus on the work of salvation. The time that I have to do this work win all that I have (all of my time and in everything that I do) is very short. I want to do just a little better every day I am alive I think!
Yesterday's fast was good as well. By he end I think I was loosing focus on Gods purpose and started to get irritable, but I recognized it, and tried my best to fix that bad attitude, and my good companion isn't holding it against me, so I was able to have a good experience. I was able to change a little bit more and really pray for my district, and the people we are helping here.
That was also reflected in one of the sacrament meeting testimonies that I heard yesterday. A sister Tanaka gave a testimony on focusing on others and caring about them more than yourself. I am so grateful for the members here who are so strong in their own wonderful ways. Their commitment to do what is right and to follow the Savior is amazing. I truly want a heart a little more like a 日本人. How could I leave these people!? I am so sad to think that I will need to leave all these who I love so much. Someday I suppose we will all be together again and will "enjoy the same association that we do now", in a much grander way. I hope that means that we will meet our friends and those we have grown to love in his life as well as it means family.
I am grateful to serve a mission and for the redeeming love and sacrifice of the Savior.
With love,
Elder Bevan

Good and Bad

Well this week was good.
I had some good and bad all mixed in there... like always. The good always outweighs the bad : ).

On Monday we had a crazy p-day we had two lessons and i accidentally thought that the first one was two hours earlier than it was, so i felt super Goofy.
On Tuesday we had an awesome district meeting where all four companionship's in the district taught different things
On Wednesday we went out to work in the blazing sun and crazy humidity. We stopped and helped an old man who was hobbling along the road and could not even stand upright. He was trying to hold his umbrella and cane in the same hand, and carry a cup of water. It is amazing that the Savior knows each of us down to our final days, and all our cares and our joys. I am grateful that He knows and loves us.
Thursday was weekly planning and a two hour train trip to the other side of Kyushu to do a Junkai, as we waited for an expected Typhoon. The Nakatsu Elders were coming home late that night because they were teaching a lesson, and so we just sat on their porch and studied and talked for half an hour, and looked at the red clouds overhead. It was a rare moment of relaxation and quiet, and because of the weather it was cool and calm. No typhoon came, and we were able to work all that day with the Nakatsu Elders. I was so blessed by that, it seemed that all my prayers were answered during that junkai. We returned the next morning and were able to meet with an investigator named Kuriyama, who is great. We also had an investigator come to church.
In there is scattered a lot of things that I need to learn from, that I need to fix, and do better, but i know that I can, and I know that the Savior will help me, and be with me as I go.
This morning I was able to feel the Spirit in my prayers to start morning study. What a simple and sublime gift! I am so grateful for that Gift! I love it!

My love to all,
Elder Bevan

sorry i left my ipad in Nakatsu, there are no pictures this week

Hi Mom
I sure love you! Your job is so hard and you always are doing your
very best to lead us in the right way and do what is right! Thank you
so much!
Sorry I didn't answer your questions last time. Here they are:

So, with this transfer, you are now in Chikashino?
Yes.
Tell us about it !!  We want details!  City or country?
City.
Pictures?
This is the most country I have gotten here. You can't see it, but
there are two giant apartment buildings behind me. That is how most of
Japan is; the rice fields, and super tight packed living space, with
bamboo-covered hills around everything.
Apartment?
As far as I know, there is only one non-apartment missionary housing in the whole Mission, and that is in Fukuoka city. We live in a fairly big apartment.
Ward or branch?
  Ward.
Strong members?
many
... Attractions?
There is a very large Buddhist temple here that is somewhat famous. We met a man on Friday ( when I was on splits with my zone leader Elder Moe who was my MTC companion see above picture) who was a monkey trainer. He had three monkeys in his truck that he apparently trained to preform for money at that temple. Cool right!
Lifestyle?
They are just like any other $BF|K\?M (B they work hard, take their duty serious, are wonderfully kind, and considerate. They eat rice and sleep on futons on the floor, take their shoes off at the door, will often give you an umbrella if you don't have one, and are generally just good. And they always dress nice!
Have you finished your application?
I plan on finishing that today.
Sorry I didn't get that to you last week.

This week one thing that has helped me is saying what I am grateful for in my prayers. It seems to help so much! It is something so simple but it helps a lot to strengthen my faith and helps me to go forward. How good it is that we can be grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ! How wonderful it is that we know his gospel! Even when I have 1000 things to do, I can pray and give thanks and feel the spirit again in my life help me to focus on what is most important. I am so grateful that Jesus Christ bore my sins and felt my pain, and I am so grateful that He loves me. He will guide me in all the things I need to do. I love him.
I love you!
Love, Elder Bevan
